Homemade deodorant

Okay, so my first experiment with homemade deodorant ended badly. I thought the baking soda was too harsh. Shows what I know. But I was constantly peeling the skin off my armpits by using my homemade deodorant daily. So I just used coconut oil on it's own. My shirts smelled like B.O. halfway through the day, although I could reapply to my pits and my body smelled nuetral. So I was washing my clothes more and changing more, but I was getting tired of this, especially with the heat of an Arizona summer coming on. So I took another look to see what I could do to adjust the recipe. Turns out, it was the corn starch peeling my skin off. The solution was to use arrowroot powder instead. Now I mix 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/4 cup arrowroot powder, an 1/4 cup coconut oil. I keep it in a small jar and rub it on with my fingertips. I follow it up with more coconut oil because it feels a little gritty, and the oil prevents it from irritating the skin from being rubbed in. I'm on day two of multiple applications and it's the first day I didn't absolutely stink when I got home from my run. I can wear the same shirt all day and it doesn't reek. As long as my skin doesn't start peeling off again, I think this is a winner.
